The Living Room

The living room is still a work in progress. For now, it is comfortable and provides us with a comfy place to hunker down in the evenings. In time, I would like to add more decor pieces and accent chairs. I would also like to do floor to ceiling windows with exposed beams as dividers.

The DEETS:

Grey Sectional: Savesto Sectional from Ashley Furniture (I don’t have the left hand facing arm section).

Brown Sectional COMING: This sectional was custom made from Couch Haus. It is on route!

Ottoman: Purchased years ago and recovered with a vintage kilim rug. I will add vintage rugs below incase you would like to DIY yours! We added old beams to the bottom for a rustic/unique look.

Rugs: Majority of the rugs shown in the living room are from Loloi or Ruggable.

Pillows: I love to get most of my pillows from Rug & Weave shop HERE

Console table behind sectional: Hand made by yours truly (aka Darren).

Floors: Douglas Fir planks made by a local mill.

the Sectionals:

The grey savesto sectional is a timeless piece. We had this piece of furniture for a few years and I loved it. However, it does require some maintenance. It’s lighter in colour, so obviously a Bissell Steam Cleaner comes in clutch. You also have to fluff the cushions as they are filled with feathers.

THE COUCH HAUS CUSTOM SECTIONAL The brown sectional was made to order from Couch Haus out of Vancouver BC. I worked closely with them for the desired look. This sectional features performance linen fabric in the colour bison, extra deep seating, and sloped modern arms. It is by far the best piece of furniture I have ever owned.

the Rugs:

In my opinion, a rug grounds the space and is a very important factor when creating a living space you can unwind in. I absolutely LOVE Loloi and Ruggable for a few different reasons. Loloi rugs are so timeless and I love the cloudpile collection - it is literally like a cloud. Ruggable is so convenient and have a lot of options to choose from. I personally would go with a rug that has a pile - It still fits in the wash too! For Ruggable, you can use my code: MYNAVYHOMECO to save.

the Decor:

I had a pretty heavy duty addiction to throw pillows. I once wrote a blog post solely dedicated to this passion of mine. In reality, they do not actually sit on the sectional most days - maybe one…but gosh do they ever pull a space together. As for the rest of the decor, I am pretty simple really. A couple of wooden bowls I bought locally get put here and there for photos and an assortment of candlesticks are on my mantle.

the Ottoman:

The ottoman has had many different looks. The original is a rich red fabric from India but I find this sometimes hard to flow with the rest of my decor so I make covers for it. On Etsy, I am always on the hunt for a great vintage kilim rug. I also use KOVI Upholstery Fabrics which is the grey plaid you see pictured. It is actually the back side of the fabric but I fell in love with it.
