The Kitchen
The kitchen has gone through many different looks over several years but the green stays strong. I would like to take a moment to toot my own horn and announce that I had a green kitchen before it was trendy. Yes, it was a different shade of green but still - it was green. During a large renovation, our layout had changed so we did our best with what the space allowed.
The DEETS:
Cabinets: Rolands Joinery (With some DIY / Ikea Doors after the new layout)
Kitchen Island: Rolands Joinery
Cabinet Colour: Benjamin Moore Forrest Floor (See painting highlight HERE)
Wood Stain: The floors and beams are made at a local mill from Douglas Fir. The colour I used here is from Wood Shield and is an exterior stain. The colour is called “Bark” and I diluted the stain with water for a ratio of 50/50. The island is made out of maple and stained in Varathane Gel Provincial.
Wall Colour: Beauti Tone Decorator White
Countertops: Hand poured concrete slabs (See highlight HERE)
Range Hood Cover: Hand made by yours truly (See highlight HERE) Finish is Mapei Grout in Alabaster.
Appliances: GE Cafe
Floors: Douglas Fir planks made by a local mill.
Pot Rail: We used a copper rod and purchased rod holder brackets linked below and finished with Rub&Buff European Gold
The Hardware:
The Cookware:
Caraway Home & Dine with Fable are a favourite around here. Non toxic and long lasting are qualities that I look for.
CARAWAY HOME CODE: MYNAVYHOME.CO10
DINE WITH FABLE CODE: MYNAVYHOMECO
The Decor:
A lot of items are thrifted finds like the crocks. However, I like to add functional decor to my kitchen. These things are runners, cutting boards and jars. You can use code: MYNAVYHOMECO10 to save on Ruggable.
the Dining:
The dining space looks different in my brain right now. I am picturing another window where the empty wall sits. Most times I have a piece of art with trees I painted hanging here - but every once in awhile I take this down so I can visualize the space more. Most pieces here are hand me downs or thrifted - which is kind of a bummer if you are looking to source similar items. I promise that once I have lights for this space and things you can purchase, I will add them. But hey, here’s your reminder that not everything needs to be brand new!
the DEETS:
Dining Table: The dining table is a vintage find at a local trading post - I couldn’t believe I found this beauty because our local buy & sell / marketplace is not like what I see everywhere else.
Dining Chairs: The chairs were my Gramma’s and I spray painted them in Rustoleum matte black. They take a beating and are not in the best shape.
All of the pillows are from all over the place, but mainly Rug & Weave. Shop HERE.
And yeah, that’s all I got for ya!
