One month of our wood stove insert.

It has been over a month since our home has been transformed with heat and a cozy atmosphere. Our living room has always been our gathering place, but now it's a comfortable retreat.

MY THOUGHTS:

From the moment we lit our first fire, the difference was undeniable. The crackling sound, the soft glow, and the steady warmth made our home feel more inviting than ever. Northern BC winters can be long, and having a reliable, efficient heat source has been a game-changer.

Year after year, we dreamt of making our fireplace functional and in November 2024, we got the ball rolling.

Heat Performance & Efficiency:

One of the biggest reasons we chose the Canadian made Regency Alterra i3000 was it’s heating efficiency.

Even, consistent warmth throughout our home. The Eco-Boost Triple Burn Technology allows for longer, more complete burns, meaning more heat and less wood usage.
Less reliance on our main heat source (another wood stove in the back of our home that didn’t fully heat our main room)

Functionality aside, this fireplace has truly elevated the feel of our home. whether we’re winding down after a long day or enjoying a slow morning with coffee in hand, the fire adds an element of peace and nostalgia. I’ve caught myself standing in front of it just soaking in the moment multiple times — There’s something so grounding about it (and we longed to be warm).

WHAT WE HAVE LEARNED:

After a month of daily use, a few things stand out:

Good Firewood makes all the difference. Well-seasoned wood burns cleaner and keeps the glass clear. We always get dry pine.
A fireplace quickly becomes the heart of the home. It naturally draws people in - James loves sitting by it after playing outside and its become our favourite spot in the house.
We should have done it sooner. Twelve years of being cold was a bit too long - but I searched high and low until we were ready and could add something that as aesthetic. It is one of those upgrades that is life changing.

WOULD WE RECOMMEND IT?

Absolutely.
